WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN

ABOUT

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) uses the power of food to nourish communities and strengthen economies in times of crisis and beyond. WCK has created a new model for disaster response through its work helping devastated communities recover and establish resilient food systems. WCK has served more than 50 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world in countries including The Bahamas, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mozambique, Venezuela, and the United States. WCK’s Resilience Programs in the Caribbean and Central America have trained hundreds of chefs and school cooks, advanced clean cooking practices, and awarded grants to farms, fisheries and small food businesses while also providing training and networking opportunities.

The lee initiative

ABOUT

Chef Edward Lee and Lindsey Ofcacek started The LEE Initiative in Louisville, KY in 2018 after they saw a need for more diversity, more training, and more equality in their own industry. They wanted to redefine what it means to give back to their local community based on their research, their experiences and most of all, their instincts. They are in the business of hospitality, helping people, and solving problems. They put the needs of their guests first. So why should it be any different when they approach the complex social issues that arise in the restaurant industry?

THEIR MISSION

• When they see a need for more diversity, equality and compassion in the restaurant industry, they will find innovative and impactful solutions.

• They will create programs that make a real difference in the lives of the next generation of restaurant industry professionals.

• They help our community and inspire others to get involved.
