I like the set for travel and barbecue use. The chef and filet knives were not as sharp as they could have been, but that was easily fixed. The handle on the chef knife is longer than a regular non-folding chef knife, but that is necessary to make it a folding knife, and is easy to adjust to. The utensil combo (knife/fork/spoon) that I received was a bit awry, and did not close properly, but Messermeister very promptly worked with me to get a replacement out. Overall, a good set for this use.

This set is fantastic! We bought it as a gift for our Chef friend who is also a big moto adventurer. He said it was the best gift he's ever received. We chose the distressed linen color (it's greenish, not at all what I expected but we love it). It's quite a bit heavier than expected so, if you're looking for something to carry in a pack you might want to choose either a single piece or the 3-piece set. Overall, we're very happy with the quality and are already planning to purchase a set for ourselves and more as gifts. Wonderful gifts!

bought this set as a gift (yet to be given) so I have no usage comments to share. What’s undeniable is the quality! Very pleased with the look & feel. The locking mechanisms are sturdy yet minimal in appearance. This set has everything the adventure chef can use in a compact overall setup. Wish I had one of these sets 40 years ago when I was cooking over a fire!

I just received mine and was pleasantly surprised by the build quality for an 8” foldable chef’s knife that you can take camping!? First off, nothing like this exists, secondly it’s razor sharp out of box, like all Messermeister knives. The little case and folding cutting board, it comes with is sweet! I already diced an onion and a tomato with it, and it’s awesome!! Exactly what I would expect from my favorite knife company. It’s an awesome kit and a great addition to my knife collection!

Got my folding camp utensil today, quite a stunning piece of the kit. I see this getting a lot of use. The micarta scales should show some nice honest wear in time. everything is tight and locks up well. The utensils are properly centered. The blade is sharp. The blade grind is very slightly off on one side but I have to look very close under a strong light to notice. A few minutes with a fine ceramic rod and then a good stropping and it zips through the gnarliest root vegetable or game meat The fork is narrow and long with sharp tines. It will definitely keep the food steadily secured. As a bonus I could probably secure it to a stick and us it as a fish gig! The spoon is well designed for its function. Something I really like about this unit is how well everything works together. I've tried this type before and found a soup spoon and a full size fork that made it nearly impossible to grasp. I really like the way the spoon actually enhances a comfortable hold.
